Clayco served as the design-builder for the Reinsurance Group of America’s (RGA) $150 million headquarters in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri!
Gensler and Fox Architects also worked on the project as the building design consultant and interior architect to help bring the 415,000-square-foot interactive and connective workplace to life. The design of the corporate campus mirrors RGA’s global brand and the local roots of its people, featuring two high-tech, five-story glass office towers connected through a stone-clad base that conceals the parking structure.
The headquarters are integrated into the landscape in a way that minimizes environmental impact with eco-friendly and energy-efficient components, demonstrating Clayco and our partner companies’ commitment to improving our world through sustainable operations and services. As builders and modelers of constructed environments, we must protect and preserve the natural and cultural resources of the communities we serve.
The LEED Gold-certified building has a unique curtain wall system with ceramic fritting, a state-of-the-art HVAC system, an automatic window shade system that activates depending on solar demand, and more — all controlled and monitored by an innovative building integration system. Overall, the HQ accommodates flexibility and growth for RGA and will facilitate solutions for different working styles and future development needs.
The campus’ outdoor spaces and private backyard encourage connectivity and community by providing a variety of places for team members to interact, eat, and collaborate comfortably and conveniently. As a company that values each individual on our team, Clayco works to make sure that we can provide the same opportunities for fostering relationships for our clients that we have in our own offices.
This incredible project helped propel RGA forward by highlighting the collective purpose within the walls we build – and beyond them.
