Enhancing Chicago Transit Authority’s Operations

A significant step forward for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) means better service and stronger communities!

Clayco and our integrated partners are helping the CTA strengthen its operations in Chicago’s West Garfield Park with a new 150,000-square-foot facility. On an average weekday, the CTA provides 953,787 rides, serving Chicago and 35 suburbs while handling 87% of the region’s public transit trips. This space will house the CTA’s 24/7 Control Center, which manages bus and train procedures, communications, and the rail system’s power infrastructure, making commuting easier for countless riders.

This investment will modernize transit functions and bring lasting benefits to the community. Designed to fit seamlessly into the neighborhood, the three-story building will include a 63,400-square-foot high bay training area, plus 52,000 square feet of offices and additional training spaces. Located near the Pulaski Green Line station, this facility highlights CTA’s commitment to accessibility and community involvement.

This project has been a great collaboration with Clayco’s integrated platform and Farpoint Development to take one of the largest investments in West Garfield Park in years and revitalize historically underserved neighborhoods. With over 250 employees expected to work here, we’re creating opportunities while ensuring that Chicago’s public transit system remains reliable, efficient, and ready for the future.

Construction is set to begin in 2025, with full operations expected by 2026. I’m proud of our team’s dedication to making this happen, and I can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on Chicagoans. This is more than just a building—it’s a commitment to the welfare of the city and its people.

Stay tuned for updates!
