I have always had a strong pull toward adventure. Whether traversing some of the planet’s most treacherous mountain terrains or diving into new professional roles that promote the Art and Science of Building, discovering hidden opportunities in life has always been a top priority of mine. As a proud member of The Explorers Club, attending the annual gala is always an inspirational and exciting experience where I have the chance to meet with extraordinary individuals who, like me, are dedicated to the advancement of field research, scientific exploration, and resource conservation.
I had an incredible time at the 120th Explorers Club Annual Dinner in New York City, where I met with fellow multidisciplinary explorers from around the world. One of the strangest highlights of the evening was taste-testing crickets and scorpions – which were better than you may think! I also enjoyed a VERY good New York-style hot dog (forgive me, Chicago!).
The Explorers Club is headquartered in New York but has a global community of Chapters. The organization has been supporting scientific expeditions for over a century. From US Navy lieutenant Don Walsh and Swiss engineer Jacques Piccard setting a record for the deepest descent to the Mariana Trench to astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin taking us to the literal stars with Apollo 11, The Explorers Club is an excellent embodiment of all of the potential and innovation our communities and world have to offer.
It’s always great to be around people who share your passion for discovery and unwavering pride in exploration – it sparks creativity and motivation that you don’t get from living the same routine every day. I encourage you to be a modern-day adventurer and lifelong learner of all cultures, people, history, and forward-thinking endeavors you can.
NEVER STOP EXPLORING!
