Seeing is believing!
Our team is working to foster meaningful change from the ground up in everything we do. That’s why Clayco’s Network of Women (NOW) was thrilled to host our fourth annual ‘Bring a Girl to Clayco Day’: and it was an incredible success!
Clayco NOW is a resource group that aims to increase female leadership throughout the design, construction, and real estate development industry. Its goal is to foster equity and connection by investing in women to develop and transform our company culture and beyond. The organization facilitates equitable opportunities and relationships through workforce development and initiatives.
While construction is often thought about as a male-dominated field, we are committed to changing that one step at a time. Sixty girls from the 6th to 12th grades attended yesterday’s event to learn more about various real estate, design, and construction processes — from negotiating the land purchase to winning the job, to designing the project, and all the way through building the structure. They toured our offices and received interactive presentations from women across all of our Clayco enterprise. Our team worked on sparking an interest in the field and demonstrating that there is a place for everyone in the industry by rotating the girls through eight hands-on stations.
One of the most fun moments of the day was seeing the girls learn about Virtual Reality in design and construction with our Virtual Design and Construction lab. Each station was packed with many opportunities for these young minds to understand all of the parts that have to come together to make a great project come to life and how many dynamic career possibilities there are in the industry!
Building an inclusive society has to start from within. Clayco is committed to supporting and advancing the strong, talented women who make up our workforce and the world. It starts by helping as many girls as possible know that these careers are available to them AND that there is a place for them in the industry. Our company strives for accurate representation so women and young girls can see female role models, recognize their potential, and have the tools to succeed.
