Clayco, CRG, and Lamar Johnson Collaborative are working to transform the Clayton campus of footwear retailer Caleres Inc. into a $500 million mixed-use redevelopment!
Caleres, formerly known as Brown Shoe Co., has roots in St. Louis dating back to the 1870s and has been in Clayton since the 1950s. The 9-acre site includes plans to construct an office building, boutique hotel, luxury condominiums, townhouses, and an athletic resort concept.
The innovative health and wellness campus is set to be the most sustainable community in the St. Louis region and is in a perfect centralized location with access to several interstates and methods of transportation. It is still up in the air whether or not Caleres will also open a global headquarters there, which would keep around 650 employees in the St. Louis region, but it is largely dependent on subsidies and negotiations.
I am excited to see how this new, transformative community will positively impact St. Louis.
