Building Futures at Clayco’s Third-Annual Kids Dig!

This year’s Clayco Kids Dig, in partnership with Lurie Children’s Hospital, was a great success! The event wasn’t just about operating mini-excavators or chatting with our engineers—it was about raising HOPE and funds for the 239,000+ children who receive treatments there annually. Watching the kid’s faces light up when they joined in on the fun demonstrated the power of community spirit.

Kids had the chance to momentarily forget their worries and explore and interact with heavy machinery like excavators, scissor lifts, bulldozers, and boom lifts—all set up in a massive sandbox. This hands-on experience sparked a lot of curiosity and gave the kids a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the Art & Science of Building.

Beyond igniting interest in construction, Kids Dig also has a profound impact on the healing process for Chicago’s children. Patients of Lurie Children’s Hospital and their siblings didn’t just play with construction tools–they experienced the excitement and possibilities of engineering, architecture, and city-building firsthand.

The best part? The event generated over $165,000 to help current and future patients receive the care they need and deserve.  Showing such critical support and offering the children the opportunity to just be a kid instead of a patient can help plant a seed that may grow into a lifelong passion, and you never know which child could become the world’s next great compassionate innovator.

At Clayco, we’ve always believed that building isn’t just about structures—it’s about making a meaningful impact on the community. Our ongoing partnership with Lurie Children’s allows us to give back in the most important ways, and it’s a collaboration we’re proud of year after year.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at Clayco, Lurie Children’s doctors and staff, and everyone who contributed to making this event a success. Special thanks to Gallagher Asphalt, Taylor Excavating and Wrecking, Atrium Landscaping, and our 25+ sponsors. Their generosity helped us raise funds and create an unforgettable day for these children.

Let’s keep building healthier communities together!
