Recognizing the Women in Clayco

Clayco is more than just a design-building firm, we are strongly driven by social impact and what we can do to make a difference both Within and Beyond our Walls. We are well aware of the statistics related to women in construction. While women make up 47% of the U.S. workforce, they only make up 9% of the construction workforce. That is one of the reasons we are passionate about providing an equal opportunity for all and promote initiatives for our office and field to become more diverse and inclusive.

Impact within Clayco

Following our mission to increase female leadership in the design, construction, and real estate development industry, ClaycoNOW was born. This is an initiative within Clayco where women have the opportunity to foster real connections, network, and build their careers together. Our commitment is to empower the 275 women in our enterprise both personally and professionally.

To learn more about ClaycoNOW, watch the video about our program here.

For Women in Construction Week this past March, we spotlighted the successes and different roles of the women within Clayco. We interviewed women throughout the organization, and I encourage you to read more here to learn about their unique insights, experiences, and backgrounds.

Clayco also established Clayco Connects, a relationship-building initiative that connects Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises with Clayco’s leadership, subcontractors, and other businesses and stakeholders. Clayco subject matter experts meet regularly with the program’s participants to help these firms expand their business footprint, encourage greater collaboration, build relationships across the construction industry, broaden the industry’s diverse leadership pipeline, take on larger roles in the community, and participate in workforce development.

While it’s important to celebrate events such as Women in Construction Week and Women’s History Month, the biggest impact is made by actually DOING. Many of our clients have focused on diversity and inclusion for many years and this inspired us to raise the bar related to our commitments at Clayco. It’s important for us to relate to our customers and make an impact in the various communities that we work and live in.

At Clayco, we’ve embedded equality into our company culture and made it the NORM to live by the Golden Rule and treat everyone with the respect they deserve. Women should be recognized every day, and we are committed to ensuring that together, we build opportunity for everyone.
