Kids Dig Sparks Interest in World of Building

Clayco hosted our first-ever Kids Dig in Chicago!

This incredible event offered the patients of Lurie Children's Hospital and their families the opportunity to explore construction in a fun and interactive way! Over 100 kids joined throughout the day at one of Clayco’s active job sites, 170 N. Green St. in Fulton Market, and had the chance to work with rollers, bulldozers, excavators, and telehandlers in a giant sandbox – all with supervised assistance of course (because safety is Clayco’s #1 priority). Aside from being able to sit on and operate the machinery, the children were also able to learn more about construction and what is done each day on a job site. This unique fundraiser promotes wellness for the children while sparking their imagination and interest in the world of building.

The U.S. News & World 2021-2022 report found Lurie Children’s Hospital to be the top pediatric facility in Illinois and ranked in all 10 specialties. Their staff provides superior pediatric care in a state-of-the-art development and offers the latest benefits and innovations. As a nonprofit hospital, Lurie Children’s relies on philanthropic support to care for more than 220,000 children each year – which is why events like the Kids Dig are crucial to help provide them with the resources they need to keep providing optimal care, research funding, and more.

I want to thank the team at Clayco for helping with this special day, the life-saving hospital staff for their tireless dedication to healthcare, and Taylor Excavating for its donation of equipment and heavy machinery for the event. Our collaboration brought so many smiles and positivity to children who deserved it the most.
