Entek’s Lithium Battery Separator Plant

Clayco has been selected as the design-build contractor for ENTEK International's new $1.5 billion production facility in Terre Haute, Indiana!

ENTEK Lithium Separators is the only producer of “wet-process” lithium-ion battery separator materials owned and based in America. The new 1.4-million-square-foot facility will house equipment for producing the lithium battery separators.

Clayco's electric vehicle/automotive manufacturing team brings a focused perspective on plant and process requirements for projects of this scope. Our partnership with ENTEK will help further its growth while establishing Clayco as an industry leader supporting the evolving US electric vehicle industry. The campus will help ENTEK scale its U.S. production, capable of supporting 1.4 to 1.6 million EVs annually by 2027.

ENTEK’s purpose is to create value through product and manufacturing innovation, which Clayco’s expertise is working to support. Together we aim to enter new markets and make a positive difference for our customers and communities.

This project is ENTEK’s largest investment so far and will create up to 642 new family-wage jobs by the end of 2027. It will also provide a key component to reaching climate goals and pioneering sustainable, state-of-the-art solvent extraction and recovery systems and processing techniques.

This new facility will enable ENTEK to use available renewable energy and focus on having a “greener” reduced carbon footprint. Clayco is in the initial stages of planning a series of community outreach events to engage the local subcontracting community, and operations are expected to launch between 2025-2027.

I look forward to the innovation our partnership and this new facility will bring!
