Marc Lore: Innovator, Disruptor, Future-Builder

Marc Lore is one of the most forward-thinking entrepreneurs of our time. His ability to see far beyond the horizon and create innovative solutions that disrupt industries is something I’ve admired for years. Whether it’s evolving e-commerce, reinventing the food delivery business, or envisioning an entirely new city built on equity and sustainability, Marc doesn’t just dream—he dreams BIGGER and then makes it a reality!

Background + Career

Marc has continually shown how invention, risk-taking, and perseverance can lead to transformative success. He is a serial entrepreneur whose story is nothing short of inspiring. He has started and sold several successful companies, with his most notable venture being Jet.com, an e-commerce platform acquired by Walmart in 2016 for $3.3 billion. Following that, he led Walmart’s U.S. eCommerce division as president and CEO until 2021. Before Jet.com, Marc co-founded Quidsi, the parent company of popular websites like Diapers.com and Soap.com, which Amazon purchased in 2011 for $550 million.

Marc is now the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Wonder (which he founded in 2018), which aims to make world-class food within reach no matter where you live. He has had an incredible run selling major startup businesses. Now, as he tackles the culinary food delivery business with the same purposeful and strategic action that is a proven formula, I can’t wait to see what’s next. Marc has also expanded into sports ownership, partnering with Alex Rodriguez to acquire the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx. Go, Wolves and Lynx!

Futuristic Ideas

I’ve had the privilege of calling Marc a friend and colleague over the years. We often spend our spare time discussing ideas that push the boundaries of what’s possible. One of the most ambitious projects he’s taken on is Telosa—a city designed from the ground up to be a model for sustainable living, economic opportunity, and social equity. It is a futuristic concept that gives a tangible vision of how we can build communities that prioritize people, innovation, and the environment. I’m honored to be part of The Junto Group, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in urban planning, design, science, and engineering to bring Telosa to life. It will be a sustainable blueprint for other cities around the world, with a target population of 5 million people by 2050. It’s a bold endeavor, but that’s what makes it exciting.

Marc’s entrepreneurial journey has proved that when he sets his sights on an industry, he finds a way to revolutionize it. Having worked as co-chair with Marc on the Minnesota Expo 2027 bid, I’ve seen firsthand his ability to bring people together and rally them around a common goal. Marc and I share the same values of generating engagement with governments, businesses, academia, and consumers to create impactful opportunities and solutions for people around the world. We’ve had the privilege of engaging with global leaders and highlighting American culture and values, including a memorable meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal Alibrahim.

Inspiring Beyond

Marc embodies what it means to be a visionary. Whether through Telosa, his business ventures, or his leadership in sports and community initiatives, he continues to redefine what’s possible. And if history is any indicator, he’s just getting started. As Forbes noted, Marc loves to invert old sayings like: “Count your chickens before they hatch,” as they have been guiding words toward his countless achievements. I’d have to agree – follow your dreams without fear and bet on yourself!
