Clayco is part of an incredible joint venture with AECOM HUNT and Bowa Construction to transform Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport! The O’Hare 21 initiative is the most significant expansion in the airport’s history and includes three Signature Projects: the Terminal 5 Expansion, O'Hare Global Terminal, and Satellite Concourses. I couldn’t think of a better team to come together to help the Chicago Department of Aviation convert O’Hare into one of the most advanced airports in America.
Our team is excited to be involved in various transformative aspects of O’Hare’s expansion, and we just celebrated the topping out of the $110 million Terminal 5 Landside & Parking Improvements! I’m proud of our team for achieving this significant milestone as the final beam on the new six-story parking garage was placed. The garage will include modern and sustainable features like electric vehicle charging stations, a parking guidance system, and space for 1700 vehicles and 650 vehicles in surface parking.
We are working on many other improvements at O’Hare, including the Elevated Parking Structure Rehabilitation which will take place in 20 phases to fix areas of deterioration, leaking, and corrosion. We're also streamlining the transition from parking to the runway with the Runway 4R-22L Rehabilitation! This initiative involves the restoration of pavement for Runway 4R-22L, sections of Taxiway Y, and other essential airfield infrastructure in the southwest quadrant of the Airport Operations Area. Additionally, the Lower Level Utility & Pavement Reconstruction project will relocate and reconstruct the domestic water main and ComEd duct bank while reconstructing pavements in the arrivals area of Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Last but not least, the Airfield Basin’s Modifications will include critical tasks such as constructing temporary taxiways, relocating utilities, and building roadway tunnels to enable efficient operations.
