I’m proud to share that Clayco was awarded the prestigious Addams-Palmer Award for Exemplary Civic Involvement at the 2024 Civic Awards Luncheon! Huge thanks to Clayco’s President, Kevin McKenna, for accepting the award which is given each year in recognition of outstanding civic participation by a Chicago Institution. Kevin’s remarks helped spread our community-focused ethos and civic-minded culture to the 400+ people in the room.
The event was especially significant because it brought together some of the best and most influential industry leaders to connect and celebrate! There was also a great fireside chat with the Gage-Msall honorees, Heather, Jennifer, and Robin Steans, moderated by WTTW’s Brandis Friedman. As Governor Pritzker noted, our growing Clayco team has done an excellent job making positive change for Illinoisans and beyond as we continue to cultivate our vision for the future – and I can’t wait to see how we continue to evolve!
This award is named after Nobel Peace Prize Winner Jane Addams and social reformer Bertha Honoré Palmer and recognizes individuals or institutions committed to civic concerns and social reform in the Chicagoland area. Joining the ranks of past recipients like United Airlines, McDonald’s, and BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois is a tremendous honor.
Clayco’s commitment to community improvement has strengthened over the past 40 years with the founding of various impactful programs such as the Juneteenth Fund, Construction Career Development Initiative (CCDI), and Future Leaders Fellowship.
A huge thank you to the Civic Federation, event co-chairs Lester Crown, Adam Hoeflich, Dorri McWhorter, Michael Sacks, Maurice Smith, and our incredible team, whose hard work and dedication have made this achievement possible. Let’s keep building on the foundations of our communities so we can thrive far into the future!
