Clayco wins “Deal of the Year” for Jewelers Building Acquisition!

Clayco has been turning history into momentum at Chicago’s famous Jewelers Building, and the industry has taken notice!

Our acquisition of 35 E. Wacker has been named “Deal of the Year” in the Capital Markets category at the 2025 Greater Chicago Food Depository Real Estate Awards, a milestone that reflects the dedication, collaboration, and strategic vision of many. Since August of last year, a joint venture between The Prime Group and our partner company, CRG, acquired this 40-story landmark in downtown Chicago. This 556,200-square-foot architectural gem now stands at the center of one of the city’s most transformative commercial real estate transactions and is an INCREDIBLE home for our Clayco team!

This was no easy deal. Working through legal steps, court approvals, and detailed talks with various parties took focus and collaboration. The result is a refreshed, financially strong building that will serve as Clayco’s expanded headquarters and a powerful example of how historic spaces can be revitalized. A huge thanks to our talented teams and the dedicated individuals who made this possible, including Mike Reschke, Mike Reschke Jr., and Ryan Moore from The Prime Group, along with Jim Postweiler from Newmark, whose expertise was instrumental in bringing this deal across the finish line.

At its core, the Jewelers Building deal is a testament to what’s possible when strategic investment, historic stewardship, and inclusive values come together to shape a city’s future. We’re proud to play a role in preserving a Chicago icon while forging ahead for what’s next.

This deal demonstrates how bold vision and GRIT can reshape a city. We’re excited to continue the story of an iconic real estate asset!
