Ribbon-cutting ceremonies symbolize more than the opening of a building – they are the start of a fresh chapter for the community!
CRG recently hosted theirs for the Chapter at Madison, a 10-story development near the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It’s the newest student housing development in the historic Greenbush neighborhood. The structure was designed by Lamar Johnson Collaborative with Findorff Construction as the general contractor, and it seamlessly integrates into the existing urban environment using intricate brick and masonry.
The project features 165 units with upscale finishes, including wood-style flooring, premium kitchen appliances, smart-entry systems, and many other incredible amenities that will welcome students for the 2024 academic school year. As always, Clayco and our partner companies strive to build Beyond These Walls and ensure that we aren’t just bringing structures to life but also bringing life into our structures.
The development is located near popular campus hotspots. It provides residents with top-notch amenities such as a state-of-the-art fitness center, dedicated study areas, and a rooftop terrace with views of Lake Monona. There is also ample space to connect and build a true community, with gaming areas and social spaces that promote connectivity.
I also appreciate how Chapter at Madison reflects the Art & Science of Building, incorporating public art for the community by the community. Amy Zaremba is a Wisconsin native and has been a mural designer and lead artist with the Madison non-profit DAMA since 2017. She works with a range of themes, styles, and techniques with the goal of bringing color and beauty into the day of each passerby. With her mural at the East Campus Mall entrance that pays homage to the historic Greenbush neighborhood, she will do just that!
Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it also creates an essential bridge between the building itself and the history of the neighborhood by portraying the influential people and events that shaped the community. A cultural exhibit along the first-floor corridor on Regent Street will chronicle the 800 block’s history and other significant milestones, complementing this fantastic piece of artwork.
Chapter at Madison is an excellent addition to CRG’s student housing and multifamily team’s portfolio and an even greater enhancement for Greenbush. I look forward to seeing how the residents will enjoy the space this fall semester!
