From Steel to Quantum computing!
Congratulations to Chicagoland for an incredible team effort by Governor JB Pritzker, Intersect Illinois, the City of Chicago and the University of Illinois for bringing home the PsiQuantum project and launching the nation’s first Quantum Tech Campus.
Clayco is proud to lead the design/build effort and team up with Lamar Johnson Collaborative. Related Midwest and CRG are partnering as lead developers to reimagine this 400+ acre site that was once the country’s leading steel producer and transform it into a future-forward project that will establish the city as a global quantum computing hub. The Quantum Campus at 8080 South Lakeshore is set to lead the nation in quantum research, computing power, and education and stands as one of the largest economic development initiatives in Chicago’s history.
PsiQuantum is on a mission to build and deploy the world’s first useful quantum computers. The site encompasses 120 contiguous acres within a 440-acre property and is one of the largest continuous waterfront areas in America. It’s conveniently located near key transportation routes and close to quantum research partners at the University of Chicago.
Breakthroughs in quantum information science and next-generation microelectronics will revolutionize computing. This transformation is crucial because computing supports various aspects of our daily lives, from managing data to running essential services. These advances could lead to faster, more powerful computers that make everything from medical research to financial systems more efficient and effective.
This beautiful location transforms a rare piece of Lake Michigan frontage into a campus that will inspire engineers and scientists. It takes the combined power of us all to make this innovative project a reality, which will boost the growth of a quantum market expected to be worth $2 trillion in the next decade.
Let’s usher in the next renaissance of Chicago!
